Basketball Recap: Sheyenne Comes Up Short

Sheyenne was the 84-68 winner over Red River when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Sheyenne Mustangs fell 60-50 to the Red River Roughriders on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Roughriders are ranked 20th).

Sheyenne dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for Red River, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sheyenne will face off against Shanley at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Sheyenne is facing Shanley at the right time seeing as Shanley is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Red River, they will square off against West Fargo at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Red River knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully West Fargo likes a good challenge.
