Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Maynard

Maynard never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Bromfield Trojans. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Maddy Karlon was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elizabeth Schmidt, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Calleigh Currier, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Maynard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive contests.

Maynard's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Bromfield, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Maynard will face off against Ayer Shirley at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.71 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bromfield, they will square off against Gardner at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
