Football Recap: Rhea County Comes Up Short

Rhea County fell victim to Stone Memorial and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 47-0 loss at the hands of the Stone Memorial Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-0 last Friday.

Stone Memorial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lily Hinch led the charge by picking up 91 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Addison Howard was another key signal caller, throwing for 138 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of her passes.

This is the second loss in a row for Rhea County and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Stone Memorial, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Rhea County Golden Eagles take on Van Buren County Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on March 24th. Stone Memorial will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bledsoe County at 5:00 p.m. on March 28th. Stone Memorial is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 41.2 points per game this season.
