Basketball Recap: Park City Comes Up Short

Park City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a 85-51 loss at the hands of the Cottonwood Colts. While losing is never fun, the Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Colts are ranked 27th).

Despite the loss, Park City still got an impressive performance from Luke Rice, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds. Michael Zagin was another key player, putting up eight points.

Cottonwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from John Rosevear, who went 8 for 17 en route to 22 points along with eight assists and eight boards. Those eight assists gave Rosevear a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Park, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 assists.

Park City's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Cottonwood, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.

Park City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 80-72 win against Tooele on the 24th. Cottonwood has also already played their next matchup, a 68-54 victory against Jordan on the 24th.
