Soccer Game Preview: Waccamaw vs. Wando

Waccamaw will challenge Wando at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Waccamaw took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Georgetown an 8-0 shutout. Skylar Schoen was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wando). They put the hurt on Stratford with a sharp 14-0 victory on Tuesday. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Wando's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Stratford are ranked 123rd).

Wando is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 37 goals over those seven matchups. As for Waccamaw, they pushed their record up to 8-8-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
