Baseball Game Preview: Kendall Eagles vs. Oakfield-Alabama Hornets

The Kendall Eagles will take on the Oakfield-Alabama Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Oakfield-Alabama will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Kendall extended their winning streak to ten on Saturday. The Eagles never let Perry get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. 11 seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Oakfield-Alabama entered their tilt with Campbell-Savona on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 11-0 victory.

David Schnaufer made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Oakfield-Alabama's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 4-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Schnaufer was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Gilbert, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Cianfrini, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Kendall's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Oakfield-Alabama, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
