Basketball Recap: Greenville Christian Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Greenville Christian Saints came up short against the Starkville Academy Volunteers and fell 52-41.

Starkville Academy found their leader in sophomore Raylee Jones, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 24 boards. Jones continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Couvillion, who posted 13 points.

Greenville Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Starkville Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Greenville Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Charleston at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Starkville Academy, they will face off against Pillow Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Pillow Academy sitting on six straight victories and Starkville Academy on three.
