Baseball Game Preview: Thayer Bobcats vs. Liberty Eagles

The Thayer Bobcats will head out on the road to challenge the Liberty Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Things were looking good for Thayer after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Van Buren, falling 14-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Bobcats in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.

Colton Mills made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Thayer's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Pitts, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Liberty entered their tilt with Cabool on Saturday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 12-11 W against the Bulldogs.

Thayer's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Liberty, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.

Thayer couldn't quite get it done against Liberty when the teams last played back in April as they fell 6-1. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
