Volleyball Recap: Ellsworth Falls Short Against Ranked Mount Desert Island

Ellsworth faced Mount Desert Island in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on October 2nd.

Ellsworth actually scored more points across those five sets (96-93), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-22, 14-25, 25-20, 15-4.

Sophie Beal paced Ellsworth's offense, picking up 14 kills. Beal got some help from Sophie Harmon and her 14 assists. Finally, Beal was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

Ellsworth's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Mount Desert Island, they moved to 7-7 with that win, which also ended their three-match losing streak.

As of now, neither Ellsworth nor the Trojans have any future games scheduled.
