Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairhope). Everything went their way against the Foley Lions on Wednesday as they made off with a 13-6 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-5 on Tuesday.
Miller Humphries made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Will Sparks and Bryon Martin did most of the damage at the plate: Sparks scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-5, while Martin scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances. Those four hits gave Sparks a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Westry, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.
Fairhope kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Fairhope has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Foley, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-15.
