Basketball Recap: Owen Sulik's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Utica over Grosse Pointe North

Utica was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 55-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grosse Pointe North Norsemen. The Chieftains were not able to make up for their defeat to the Norsemen from their previous meeting back in January of 2018.

Utica lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Owen Sulik, who posted nine points. Those nine points gave Sulik a new career-high. Hayden Hirmiz was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Utica's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Grosse Pointe North, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Utica will host Utica Ford at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Utica Ford knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Utica likes a good challenge. As for Grosse Pointe North, they are taking a road trip to take on Roseville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Roseville will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Grosse Pointe North surely won't give up without a fight.
