Preview: Simon Tech Huskies vs. Animo Watts Warriors

The Simon Tech Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Animo Watts Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Simon Tech comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.

Simon Tech struggled with offensive rebounds on Thursday (WISH Academy had 13 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Simon Tech was beaten by WISH Academy 91-20. Simon Tech has struggled against WISH Academy recently, as their game on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Simon Tech's defeat came about despite a quality game from Karlos Hodgson, who scored 17 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Hodgson posted two or more blocks.

Animo Watts suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They were dealt a 71-36 loss at the hands of New Designs Watts. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Animo Watts has suffered against New Designs Watts since December 8, 2016.

Despite the defeat, Animo Watts saw an underclassman step up: Brandon Betancourt scored ten points.

Simon Tech bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Animo Watts, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Simon Tech have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 29.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Animo Watts struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 34.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Simon Tech took a serious blow against Animo Watts when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 74-40. Can Simon Tech avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
