Recap: Athens Bulldogs vs. River Valley Raiders
The Athens Bulldogs won the last time they faced the River Valley Raiders, and things went their way on Thursday too. Athens blew past River Valley 69-36 at home. With that victory, Athens brought their scoring average up to 51 points per game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Athens to victory, but perhaps none more so than Asa Holcombe, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Holcombe has scored at least 25% of Athens' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Banks, who scored 23 points along with 6 rebounds.
The victory got Athens back to even at 2-2. As for River Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Athens will head out on the road to face off against Nelsonville-York at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Nelsonville-York focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday. As for River Valley, they will be playing at home against Meigs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
