Basketball Game Preview: First Baptist Academy Eagles vs. Gloria Deo Academy Lions

The First Baptist Academy Eagles and the Gloria Deo Academy Lions will round out the year against one another at at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

First Baptist Academy took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took down River City Believers Academy 46-30.

It was another big night for Timothy De La Rosa, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 18 points in addition to six steals and five boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Xaidyn McKennon, who posted ten points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

First Baptist Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River City Believers Academy only racked up six assists.

Meanwhile, Gloria Deo Academy had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 63-54 win over John Paul II on Friday.

First Baptist Academy pushed their record up to 9-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Gloria Deo Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
