Fallston is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They came out on top against Havre de Grace by a score of 7-3.
Ally Underwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Abby Marmen, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Fallston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April.
Meanwhile, Patterson Mill got themselves on the board against Harford Tech on Monday, but Harford Tech never followed suit. They blew past the Cobras 11-0. Considering Patterson Mill has won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Mia Jelen was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Audrey March, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and two runs.
Patterson Mill pushed their record up to 19-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fallston, their record now sits at 17-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Fallston hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Patterson Mill struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Fallston might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Patterson Mill when the teams last played back in April. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
