Softball Recap: Maurepas Has No Trouble Against False River

Maurepas got themselves on the board against False River on Friday, but False River never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Gators. With that victory, the Wolves brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Sidney Lauzervich made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Saydie Sterling was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted over her last ten contests. Heyli Quamme also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Maurepas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as False River only posted an OBP of .294.

Maurepas is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for False River, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-5-1.

Looking ahead, Maurepas will venture away from home to square off against Central Private at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redhawks have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season. As for False River, they will welcome University Lab at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
