Recap: Brandon Eagles vs. Sumner Stingrays

After flying high against the Freedom Patriots last Tuesday, the Brandon Eagles came back down to earth. Brandon took a serious blow against Sumner on Wednesday, falling 66-25. Brandon was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-12.

When it comes to explaining why Brandon lost, one person who can't be blamed is Julia Castany. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points. Castany has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sofia Caserta, who scored five points.

Brandon's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Sumner, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brandon and Blake will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Blake and Brandon are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Sumner, they will head out on the road to square off against King at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. King will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 572nd, while Sumner is ranked 112th).
