Softball Recap: North Kingstown Skippers vs. Westerly Bulldogs

North Kingstown extended their losing streak to six on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 5-9 in the process. They came up short against the Westerly Bulldogs, falling 6-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 back in April.

As for Westerly, they pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Considering they have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For Westerly's part, the result came thanks to Lyla Auth's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Auth.

At the plate, Addison Poole was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one home run the last five times she's played. Bella Mazzarese was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Coming up, North Kingstown will welcome La Salle Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something the Skippers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Westerly, they have already played their next matchup, a 14-2 victory against Moses Brown on the 13th.
