Basketball Recap: Riverside Prep Comes Up Short

Riverside Prep saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 63-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Redlands East Valley Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Silver Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1014th, while the Wildcats are ranked 394th).

Demaj Moore was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 14 on his way to 16 points along with eight rebounds and six assists for Redlands East Valley. Moore's afternoon made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Smith, who went 6 of 10 en route to 15 points.

Riverside Prep has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for Redlands East Valley, their record is now 9-7.

Riverside Prep won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Norco at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Redlands East Valley, they and Bosco Tech will face off at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Bosco Tech's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games.
