Basketball Recap: Winside Takes a Loss

Winside entered their contest against Creighton on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wildcats took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 63-51 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Winside still got an impressive performance from Jahiem Hamik, who posted 20 points along with five boards and five steals. Hamik is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least four every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Aschoff, who earned four points and six rebounds.

Creighton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dylon Nilson, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Ethan Kuhl, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Winside's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Creighton, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.

Winside didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-23 defeat against Crofton on the 22nd. As for Creighton, they have also already played their next game, a 51-33 win against Niobrara/Verdigre on the 20th.
