Basketball Game Preview: Pieper Warriors vs. Boerne-Champion Chargers

Pieper hasn't had much luck against Boerne-Champion recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pieper Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the Boerne-Champion Chargers at 6:30 p.m. Pieper will be strutting in after a win while Boerne-Champion will be coming in after a loss.

Pieper took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 62-54 victory over Smithson Valley.

Meanwhile, Boerne-Champion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Boerne, falling 75-54. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Chargers came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Greyhounds are ranked 231st).

Pieper will need focus on slowing down Baeden Burdick, one of several Boerne-Champion players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7 for 14 on his way to 26 points. Kristian Herrera was another key player, going 6 of 10 en route to 14 points and six rebounds.

Boerne-Champion's loss dropped their record down to 21-8. As for Pieper, their win bumped their record up to 17-11.

Pieper came up short against Boerne-Champion in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 52-45. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Boerne-Champion's Gavin Peck, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 21 points.
