Baseball Game Preview: Woodrow Wilson Bruins vs. Compton Tarbabes

Woodrow Wilson has gone a perfect 10-0 against Compton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bruins will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tarbabes at 4:00 p.m. Woodrow Wilson's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Compton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Woodrow Wilson nor Lakewood made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Bruins' pitcher stepped up to hand the Lancers a 7-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won five in a row.

The result came thanks to Ben Howard's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Eddie Becker was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Rudy Carlos, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.

Meanwhile, Compton came up short against Jordan on Wednesday, falling 11-5.

Woodrow Wilson's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Compton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10-1 record this season.
