Basketball Game Preview: Montezuma-Cortez Panthers vs. Grand Junction Central Warriors + How To Watch

The Montezuma-Cortez Panthers and the Grand Junction Central Warriors will compete for holiday cheer at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Montezuma-Cortez has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 215 points over their last three contests.

Last Friday, Montezuma-Cortez got the win against Rehoboth Christian by a conclusive 58-34. The Panthers pushed the score to 50-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lynx cut but never quite recovered from.

Trey Hall was nothing short of spectacular: he went 8-for-14 en route to 19 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ah-Dae Lang, who posted 17 points and five steals.

Montezuma-Cortez smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Grand Junction Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They managed a 52-46 victory over Delta on Wednesday. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Montezuma-Cortez's record is now 3-0. As for Grand Junction Central, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-4.

Montezuma-Cortez beat Grand Junction Central 63-53 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
