Recap: Chiefland Indians vs. Lafayette Hornets

If the Chiefland Indians were feeling good off their 71-18 takedown of the Cedar Key Sharks on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Chiefland took a 50-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lafayette on Friday. Chiefland has struggled against Lafayette recently, as their match on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Brianna Bell and Nyasia Bivins certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Bell scored 10 points along with 8 steals, while Bivins scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. The matchup was Bivins' third in a row with at least ten points. Riley Davies was another key contributor, scoring 6 points.

Lafayette found their leader in underclassman Jada Copeland, who scored 20 points. Copeland is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Havyn Richardson, who scored 13 points.

Chiefland's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Lafayette, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chiefland's road trip will continue as they head out to face Oak Hall at 6:00 p.m. on December 4th. Oak Hall is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. As for Lafayette, they will head out on the road to face off against Dixie County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
