Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jessica Stumpe and Lexie Mott Lead Chester to Victory

After losing to DuQuoin the last time they met, Chester decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Chester Yellowjackets walked away with a 51-42 victory over the DuQuoin Indians on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Yellowjackets.

Chester was led to victory by Lexie Mott and Jessica Stumpe. Mott dropped a double-double on 13 points and 19 rebounds, while Stumpe posted 18 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Stumpe a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Rylie Conley, who earned eight points and five boards.

Chester smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Chester's win bumped their record up to 11-16. As for DuQuoin, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-14 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chester will face off against Trico at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for DuQuoin, they will take on Nashville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Nashville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully DuQuoin likes a good challenge.
