Basketball Game Preview: St. Paul Flyers vs. Vermilion Sailors

The St. Paul Flyers are taking a road trip to take on the Vermilion Sailors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

St. Paul is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on St. Mary Central Catholic with a sharp 58-38 victory on Saturday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Flyers as it put an end to their 11-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Vermilion, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They greeted the New Year with with a 60-44 victory over Clearview. The Sailors pushed the score to 50-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Clippers cut but never quite recovered from.

With the win, Vermilion broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-9. As for St. Paul, their victory ended a 17-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-10.

St. Paul was taken down by Vermilion 44-12 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point St. Paul was down 28-5.
