Basketball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

After flying high against Shepherd last Tuesday, Liberty came back down to earth. The Liberty Panthers lost to the Tarkington Longhorns on the road by a 57-41 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1057th, while the Longhorns are ranked 401st).

Liberty dropped their record down to 11-20 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Tarkington, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season.

When Liberty and Tarkington next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Liberty will try to stop Hamshire-Fannett's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Tarkington will take on Hargrave and their eight-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
