Basketball Recap: Dilley Takes a Loss

Dilley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Natalia Mustangs and fell 65-33. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-33 back in December of 2024.

Angel Martinez and Matthew Montoya certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Martinez dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards, while Montoya posted seven points. The dominant performance gave Martinez a new career-high in rebounds.

Even though they lost, Dilley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Dilley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Natalia, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-16.

Dilley has already played their next game (against Jourdanton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Natalia will take on Poteet at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Natalia knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Poteet likes a good challenge.
