North Brunswick falls despite strong effort from Malakhi Daniels

Recap: North Brunswick Scorpions vs. New Hanover Wildcats

After flying high against the South Brunswick Cougars last Friday, the North Brunswick Scorpions came back down to earth. North Brunswick took a serious blow against New Hanover on Wednesday, falling 80-52. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points North Brunswick has scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why North Brunswick lost, one person who can't be blamed is Malakhi Daniels. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Eric Mosley was another key contributor, scoring seven points.

New Hanover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rodmik Allen led the charge by scoring 21 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. The matchup was Allen's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Billings, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

North Brunswick's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for New Hanover, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

North Brunswick will be playing in front of their home fans against West Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Brunswick will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 351st, while North Brunswick is ranked 104th). As for New Hanover, they will head out on the road to face off against Laney at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Laney is on a five-game streak of home wins, New Hanover a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
