Athens is a perfect 10-0 against River Valley since October of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. River Valley took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Athens, who comes in off a win.

Athens barely beat Nelsonville-York the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs blew past the Buckeyes 3-0 on Tuesday.

While Athens won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-12, 26-24.

Meanwhile, River Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to Vinton County.

While River Valley ultimately came up short, they really made Vinton County work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 29-27, 25-12, 25-19.

River Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Athens, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Everything went Athens' way against River Valley in their previous meeting back in September, as Athens made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
