Softball Recap: Eufaula Gets the Win

Eufaula won against Valley last Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Tigers walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Carroll Eagles. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Jade Barnett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Natoria Brascom, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Makayla Faircloth, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Eufaula was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carroll only posted a batting average of .312.

Eufaula's win bumped their record up to 7-15-1. As for Carroll, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9-1 record this season.

Eufaula will host Geneva County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Carroll, they will venture away from home to face off against Enterprise at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
