Basketball Recap: Van Vleck Comes Up Short

Van Vleck lost against East Bernard back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Van Vleck Leopards fell just short of the East Bernard Brahmas by a score of 49-46. While losing is never fun, the Leopards can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1110th, while the Brahmas are ranked 502nd).

East Bernard's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashlynn Lemos, who posted 19 points. Lemos is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 36 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was London Cavness, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Van Vleck has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-21 record this season. As for East Bernard, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-9 record this season.

Coming up, Van Vleck will face off against Coldspring-Oakhurst at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Bernard, they have already played their next contest, a 60-34 victory against Sealy on the 7th.
