Baseball Recap: Schroon Lake Wins Going Away Against Boquet Valley

The Schroon Lake Wildcats got the win against the Boquet Valley Griffins on Friday by a conclusive 13-3. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by nine runs or more this season.

Lucas LaPerle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Julian Porcaro was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Schroon Lake is 4-1 when Porcaro posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. Elijah Melville also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Schroon Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win got Schroon Lake back to even at 4-4. As for Boquet Valley, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Schroon Lake will welcome Bolton Central at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Boquet Valley, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lake Placid at 4:30 p.m. on the 12th.
