Basketball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

After flying high against Conneaut last Saturday, Liberty came back down to earth. The Liberty Leopards'2024 ended with a 50-32 defeat against the Hubbard Eagles on Friday. The matchup marked the Leopards' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Hubbard's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braydon Songer, who posted 18 points and seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Songer has scored at least a third of Hubbard's points. Kyle Barr was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Liberty now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Hubbard, they moved to 2-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty will host McKinley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hubbard, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Howland at 7:30 p.m.
