Baseball Game Preview: Port Washington Pirates vs. Kiel Raiders

The Port Washington Pirates are taking a road trip to take on the Kiel Raiders at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Port Washington is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Nicolet hit Port Washington with a four-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pirates fell 8-3 to the Knights.

Sam Hoeft was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kiel, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past New Holstein 10-0 on Thursday. Considering the Raiders have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Cade Voelker, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep New Holstein off the board. Voelker has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Owen Schmit, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Kiel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Holstein only posted a batting average of .190.

Kiel's record is now 10-3. As for Port Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Port Washington has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Kiel struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
