3A West Metro Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances in games played from last Thursday through Saturday (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

White Made His Presence Known in Conifer's 28-16 Victory

Starting off the list is Conifer's Benson White, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. White threw for 184 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 69 yards on only nine carries. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making five total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending a pass.

Conifer is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. White and Conifer will venture away from home to square off against Pomona at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Devin Castillo was a major factor in Wheat Ridge's victory over Summit on Saturday. Castillo did his part (and then some), rushing for 41 yards and a touchdown for the 'W'.

Carston Wolanske Delivers Best Effort of Season

On Saturday, Conifer got the W thanks in part to Carston Wolanske playing the best football he has all season. Wolanske rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.0 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards.

Evergreen had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Wolanske it was a similar story. When Wolanske last faced the Cougars back in November of 2023, he rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry.

Bennett Wilkes Makes It Two for Wheat Ridge

The second Wheat Ridge player making an appearance here is Bennett Wilkes, and for good reason. He picked up 167 receiving yards and a touchdown. He really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 70 yards.

On the year, Wilkes has caught 14 touchdowns while averaging 120.1 receiving yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he had seven receiving touchdowns.

Demarco Villalovas Delivers Electric Performance Vs Skyview

Green Mountain picked up their fifth consecutive win on Thursday thanks in part to Demarco Villalovas. Villalovas did his part (and then some), rushing for 83 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, while also catching a touchdown for the 'W'.

Green Mountain has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Villalovas and Green Mountain will square off against Roosevelt at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
