Baseball Recap: St. Bernard's Wins Going Away Against Fortuna

St. Bernard was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Fortuna on Tuesday. St. Bernard's blew past Fortuna 6-0. The Crusaders have beaten the Huskies the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Huskies has come to flipping the script.

Michael Manzi made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Brunton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was his first of the season.

The win got St. Bernard's back to even at 3-3. As for Fortuna, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-5.

Coming up, St. Bernard's will take on Point Arena at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fortuna, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Eureka at 11:00 a.m. on April 5.
