Baseball Game Preview: Geneseo Maple Leafs vs. Morton Potters

The Geneseo Maple Leafs will venture away from home to face off against the Morton Potters at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Geneseo came up short against East Moline United and fell 7-3. The Maple Leafs have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Morton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against East Peoria by a score of 7-4 on Wednesday.

Morton's victory was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Geneseo, their loss dropped their record down to 12-16.

Geneseo might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Morton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Maple Leafs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
