Soccer Recap: Waltrip Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Westbury

Waltrip lost to Westbury back in January, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Waltrip Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Westbury Huskies. The win was all the more spectacular given the Rams' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 642nd, while the Huskies are ranked 199th).

The victory made it two in a row for Waltrip and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored six goals over those two matches. As for Westbury, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 10-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waltrip will take on Sharpstown at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Westbury, they will head out to take on Madison at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
