Baseball Game Preview: Napoleon Wildcats vs. Anthony Wayne Generals

Napoleon hasn't had much luck against Anthony Wayne recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Generals at 5:00 p.m. Napoleon will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Monday, Napoleon narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Evergreen 4-2.

Blaine Ford made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Mason Trausch was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Anthony Wayne). They blew past Wauseon 13-2 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Generals, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Anthony Wayne's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Napoleon, their victory bumped their record up to 18-5-1.
