Baseball Game Preview: East Bladen Eagles vs. Oxford Prep Griffins

The East Bladen Eagles will square off against the Oxford Prep Griffins on Friday. The last three games East Bladen has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

East Bladen is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Hobgood Charter 4-2.

Meanwhile, Oxford Prep entered their tilt with Wake Prep Academy on Wednesday with 15 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 16. They blew past the Guardians 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Griffins, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Jayce Elliott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Davis Faulkner, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Woodlief, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Oxford Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wake Prep Academy only posted an OBP of .269.

Oxford Prep's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for East Bladen, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season.
