Basketball Game Preview: Point Loma Pointers vs. Hoover Cardinals

The Point Loma Pointers will take on the Hoover Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

While Pointers fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Wednesday's season opener. They took down Coronado 60-45 on Wednesday.

Jax Marple was nothing short of spectacular: he posted 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. That's the most assists he has posted since back in December of 2024. William Conquest was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Point Loma was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coronado only posted six.

Meanwhile, Hoover took care of business in their home opener on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 61-46 win over Vincent Memorial.

Point Loma was dealt a bruising 82-48 loss at the hands of Hoover when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can the Pointers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
