Volleyball Recap: Gateway's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Gateway couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Gainesville Hurricanes on Saturday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since September 25th.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-12, 25-16.

Ivana Reyes paced Gateway's offense, picking up nine kills. Reyes got some help from Gabriela Alvarez and her 11 assists. Karina Fabelo controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Among those leading the charge was Addyson Hauptman, who had 11 digs and three assists. She has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played.

Gateway's loss ended a five-match streak of away wins and brought them to 19-6. As for Gainesville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

Gateway does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gainesville, they have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Legacy on the 29th.
