Baseball Recap: Oak Hills Takes a Loss

Oak Hills fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Lakota West on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Firebirds by a score of 4-3. Surprisingly, this marked the Highlanders' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Ryan Murphy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cooper Harrison made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Oak Hills' loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Lakota West, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Coming up, Lakota West will challenge Elder at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Oak Hills will be paying especially close attention to the Firebirds' game: after the Firebirds face off against the Panthers, they'll take on Oak Hills again at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
