Softball Game Preview: Immanuel Christian Crusaders vs. Mojave Mustangs

Immanuel Christian is 9-1 against Mojave since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Crusaders will host the Mustangs at 3:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Immanuel Christian has five straight victories, Mojave has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Immanuel Christian's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Lone Pine 22-0. Considering the Crusaders have won 14 games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Abigail Barham made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Immanuel Christian let Sydney Loughlin and Ava Blakie run wild. Loughlin got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases, while Blakie got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Loughlin has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Milah Blowers, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs.

Meanwhile, Mojave lost 14-4 to Lee Vining on Saturday.

Immanuel Christian's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-5. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mojave, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Everything went Immanuel Christian's way against Mojave in their previous meeting back in April, as Immanuel Christian made off with a 15-2 win. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
