Basketball Recap: Jenkins Warriors vs. Johnson Atomsmashers
Jenkins was the 39-36 winner over Johnson when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Jenkins Warriors were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 54-53 to the Johnson Atomsmashers. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Atomsmashers 18-11 in the first quarter.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dominique Johnson, who posted 15 points. Johnson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Troy Graham Jr., who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Jenkins smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.
Favion Kirkwood was his usual excellent self, putting up 29 points in addition to six boards and three blocks for Johnson. That makes it four consecutive games in which Kirkwood has scored at least a third of Johnson's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quentin James, who earned three points along with five assists and five steals.
Jenkins' defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Johnson, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-13.
Jenkins wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-48 loss against Beach on the 1st. Johnson has also already played their next match, a 59-48 defeat against Calvary Day on the 1st.
