Softball Preview: Mt. Vernon Wildcats vs. Southridge Raiders

Mt. Vernon has enjoyed a six-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Southridge Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Vernon will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Mt. Vernon is headed into the matchup fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 19-2 margin over Evansville Bosse on Thursday. Considering Mt. Vernon has won four matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ali Lyke made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Lyke was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Hannah West was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Raycee Stallings was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
