Softball Game Preview: Raleigh Lions vs. Bogue Chitto Bobcats

For the second straight game, Raleigh will face off against Bogue Chitto. The Lions will be playing at home against the Bobcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Raleigh is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Bogue Chitto 14-4.

Laney Powell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Powell was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Lydia Bryant and Kinley Delcid did most of the damage at the plate: Bryant went 5-for-6 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Delcid went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Those five hits gave Bryant a new career-high. Haylee Buffington was another key player, going 2-for-6 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Raleigh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Raleigh's win bumped their record up to 11-17-1. As for Bogue Chitto, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-17.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Raleigh has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bogue Chitto struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
