Baseball Recap: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. South East Jaguars
Roosevelt extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 8-16 in the process. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South East Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on Monday.
As for South East, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-15. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.
For South East's part, Jonathan Castro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits. Castro has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Delonte Jones was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. South East is 3-1 when Jones posts two or more runs, but 7-14 otherwise. Nathan Munoz was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will venture away from home to take on Carson at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South East, they will head out to challenge Esperanza at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
