Football Recap: Custer Wildcats vs. Hot Springs Bison
Custer came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They had to suffer through a 51-13 loss at the hands of the Hot Springs Bison. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Bison from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.
When it comes to explaining why Custer lost, don't look at Danny Immormino. Despite the final result, he rushed for 160 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Immormino was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 69 yards.
It was another big night for Clancy Koupal, who rushed for 172 yards and two TDs on only 14 carries for Hot Springs. Koupal's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 125 rushing yards. Grant Heil was in the mix too, providing Hot Springs with two touchdowns.
Custer dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Hot Springs, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-3.
Custer has already played their next game, an 18-14 loss against Belle Fourche on the 10th. As for Hot Springs, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 27-0 defeat against St. Thomas More on the 10th.
